Fluid Replacement
The transmission fluid is frequently neglected, to the ruin of many transmissions. The fluid is a vital component of your transmission. It acts, not only as a lubricant for the transmission's moving parts, but also as a coolant.
For manual transmissions, most manufacturers recommend that you change the fluid out at least once every 30-60 thousand miles. If your transmission is an automatic transmission, then the recommendation for changing the fluid is once every 30 to 80 thousand miles. Keep in mind, however, that these numbers represent the maximum length of time that you would want to wait for a service. It is a good idea to check the fluid levels even more frequently than these bare minimum recommendations suggest. This is because if you experience an unexpected leak that causes your transmission fluid levels to drop to a dangerous level, you may not even become aware of the problem until your next service visit....which may be too late. Many times there are no other warning signs until your transmission completely dies.
Have the transmission fluids checked frequently and avoid any unexpected problems and costly repairs. At The Transmission Shop, we are standing by ready to assist you.
